Document media denotes the format, method and device whereby document content is embedded for preservation, access and promulgation.

• Format may include video, voice, graphics or text.
• Method may include mechanical or electronic in digital or analogue form.
• Device may include optical, magnetic, solid state, paper, film or other devices capable of preservation of document content.

Document media is directly associated with the document copy whereby the document copy it denotes the instance of the document content in a media at a location.
